A few answers
before you start.

Can I unlock a PDF without its password?

If a password is required to open the document, you’ll need that password. PDFs that open normally but restrict printing, copying, or editing can usually have those restrictions removed directly.

Is it completely free?

Yes. Unlock PDF is free to use, with no signup or watermark. You can process one PDF at a time, up to 64 MiB per file.

Will my pages or formatting change?

The tool removes PDF encryption without converting pages into images. Text, images, and page layout are preserved. Rewriting a digitally signed PDF can invalidate its signatures, so retain your original if you need to verify them.

What happens to my uploaded file?

We temporarily upload your PDF to remove its protection. Uploaded and processed files are removed from the server after each request. The download stays available in this browser tab until you reset or leave the page.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Choose a PDF from your phone, tablet, or computer using a modern web browser. There’s no app to install.

What if my PDF is already unlocked?

We’ll let you know and provide a copy you can download. Your original file is never changed.
